Recognise The Different Versions of You in Moments

Updated: Apr 19

Simple Ways to Understand Shifts in Awareness

How often do to notice how your experience of reality is changing… those split seconds within minutes.

They are not dramatic, mystical events.

They are everyday moments where your perception, attention and internal state shift and with it, your experience of the world.

The more you can see how fleeting your thoughts and versions of self actually are, the easier it can be to understand what is unchanging, always there, observing all the versions of self.

Here are some clear examples of moments you are a different version of you, having a new unplanned experience, in a new moment in time:

  1. You suddenly feel like changing your social media profile or page, even though nothing external has changed.

  2. You walk into a room and forget why you went there.

  3. You go to the kitchen for water and come out with food you never planned to eat.

  4. You hear a noise nearby, feel confused, then realise it has been there for a while.

  5. You notice something in your home that feels new, even though it has always been there.

  6. You read a message one way, then later read it again and see it completely differently.

  7. You feel clear and confident in the morning, then uncertain later in the day about the same situation.

  8. You step away from something briefly and return feeling like you have missed a shift, even though everything continued.

  9. You are told something about your health, then later receive information that changes your entire understanding of it.

  10. You meet someone you once struggled with, and in that moment the dynamic feels completely different.

  11. You suddenly remember something important after having forgotten it.

  12. You search for something and find it in a place you already looked.

  13. You feel motivated, then moments later feel resistance.

  14. You scroll your phone and lose track of time without noticing.

  15. You enter a space feeling calm, then later feel uneasy in that same space.

  16. You speak in a conversation, then later feel you showed up differently than expected.

  17. You feel proud of your work one day, then critical of it the next.

  18. You feel aligned during a quiet moment, then scattered once you return to activity.

  19. You interpret someone’s behaviour negatively, then later see it differently.

Many of us will remember how you feel like “yourself” in one moment, then feel like a completely different “you” in another.

What This Points To

These moments are not random.

They show you that:

  • Your experience or perception is not fixed

  • Your Versions self naturally come and go in your day to day

  • Your internal state observes the way these all versions of self shape what you notice, feel and believe

What you call “yourself” is often a shifting set of thoughts, emotions and reactions.

The Deeper Insight

Are these versions of self simply multiple separate selves?

No, They are not multiple separate selves.

There are multiple states of perception moving through one awareness.

When you begin to notice this one awareness, when you really begin to not judge the multiple states or be doubtful, you can allow your versions of selves to come and go. In the moments of shift, when you notice the change in your experience, trust, remain with the most grounded and aligned response/version of self.

Keep accepting the highest thread of thought:

  • you stop taking every one thought as absolute

  • you see more, multiple thoughts and they as just thoughts

  • you stop identifying with every reaction

  • you begin to see the movement of mind and emotion more clearly

Why This Matters

Because the moment you notice and allow the shifts with less resistance: this shift… that shift

You are no longer fully inside it.

And that is where change begins.

A Simple Practice

In your day, observe without putting an interpretation to what you are seeing, just look.

Not to judge it.

Not to fix it.

Just to notice.

Closing Reflection

You are not limited to one fixed identity.

You are the awareness within which all these versions appear and pass.

And from that awareness…

You begin to choose more consciously how you live, respond and create your experience as your True Self through the versions of self.
