Journaling into Inner Calm (SMITT  )

TM

Welcome to Journaling into Inner Calm

My name is Bola Abimbola and I want to thank you for choosing to take this writing journey with me. Together we will discover hidden chambers of your creativity, reawaken your soul energy, and find our way home.

Growing up in a home that was physically quite beautiful but emotionally bereft, instilled in me a deep sense of instability and inner homelessness. My soul's journey was to find a home within -- an interior home that is safe and stable no matter the ups and downs of my life. This course grew from that journey.

So many of us have experienced trauma in early life, leaving us not knowing how to feel at home within ourselves. As these modern days change rapidly around us, the concept and reality of an unchanging Star, an unshakable foundation, an abiding home for your soul, sounds impossible -- a non-reality.

Hear me when I say to you that it is possible. Today is the first step in laying the stones upon the path leading to the open door of your inner sanctuary of peace and creativity: your home. I have been on this path and sharing this journey for many decades. The personal transformations I have witnessed in others fill me with a sense of purpose and hope, as people reconnect to their deepest most authentic self, all while simply dedicating time to themselves for their personal and creative development. With diligence, commitment, patience, and humor, we shall, each of us, write our bodies home.

Over the next 14 days, I will support you to write to connect more to who you really are. You will restore the flow of abundant energy within you with grace, ease and flow. Each module is a foundation for the next so take your time.

You will receive an email every 24hrs for the next 14 days with instructions for each day.

Materials and Supplies:

  • Notebook: Designate a notebook specifically for this journey.

  • Pens and pencils: Have a few pens or pencils with which you enjoy writing.

  • Time: Each session is created to last 20 minutes but you can use more time if desired. Set aside a specific time to do your work, the same time every day is best.

  • Space: Set aside a place where you will not be interrupted, a space just for you. While some exercises require you to be outside, remember to choose a place of comfort and safety.

Time Commitment: Minimum 20 minutes a day

Setting aside twenty minutes a day for your soul-writing journey will powerfully transform your inner world. This sacred time includes reading, writing, and radical self-care.

The writing exercises are designed with step-by-step guidance for a daily ten-minute practice, which will change your life in wonderful ways. If you have more than one writing exercise on a particular day, the writing exercises are designed to take a total of ten-minutes. If you don't have ten minutes, don't fret, trust what you write in five minutes is just as valuable. Get into the habit of daily writing!

Note: Set a timer for your writing period. As you drop down into the writing without worrying about time, you enter the magical space of the present moment, and all the gifts of creativity will unfold.

Another note about time: In my experience, I've found that most people can drop into a short (i.e., ten minute) writing period and find great benefit. Others, though, find they need longer to really get the flow going. Notice what's true for you, don't judge it, and give yourself the time you need for your writing practice to be fulfilling and meaningful for you.

Know that the heart of your exploration and reawakening are the practices themselves. Your transformation occurs by setting aside the time to do your daily writing exercise, taking the sacred time of personal reflection, and implementing the action of radical self-care. Therefore, enter this course as a process, not with a particular goal or intended outcome.

This course is organically designed to assist and guide you to be present within your own body and soul, and to inhabit your writing; fostering creative expression, self-discovery, and spiritual evolution. Be sensitive to the doors long closed or locked that will open for you through this radical self-care process.

TRUST: Curiosity and openness will strengthen your spirit and your practice as you move through this 14-day course. Commit yourself to the daily practice of showing up to explore, receive, and be amazed!

"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." -Rumi

What does it mean to you to journey into your inner calm? Does it mean to feel self-love or to feel alone? Does it mean to know peace or stress? Does it mean safety and freedom from fear, or terror? What emotions, fears, preoccupations, even over-joy do you need to let go of? Inner Calm is ever-present and we find our way back through love.

Love is not something many of us are accustomed to feeling within our own bodies, yet if we don't find it there, we continually look for it elsewhere. . .and the body is left abandoned, homeless. Love begins with awareness, self awareness.

Below are a set of affirmations and a subliminal audio containing the same affirmations.

Read aloud and listen to your voice.

AFFIRMATIONS

  • I am releasing grief, anger, anxiety, stress, shame and guilt now.

  • I am detached from negative attachments.

  • I am happy and deserve to enjoy life.

  • I am happy, content and in harmony with my life.

  • I am at peace with myself on my own and with others.

  • I am caring, kind and loving with myself,

  • I am connected to my true self.

  • I am happy being part of something bigger than myself.

  • I am focused and financially free.

  • I am co-creating and allowing more love in my life.

  • I am grateful for every good thing in my life.

CALM MIND.png

"What do you need to let go of to have inner calm?" As you read these words and hear them in your mind a million thoughts appear. Just asking the question begins to reveal your emotions and ideas. Now you'll begin to unravel these thoughts with your first writing practice.

WRITING PRACTICE - "What do I need to let go of?", " What do I need rest from?"

Your ten-minute writing practice:

  1. Set your timer for ten minutes. Clear your awareness by taking a few deep, centering breaths.

  2. Bring your attention into your body, by noticing the sensations on the bottoms of your feet, connecting to the surface below you.

  3. Close your eyes and place your hand on your heart.

  4. Ask the question aloud, with your hand on your heart and your eyes closed: "What do I need to rest from?"

  5. Listen to the first thing that comes up in response, and as soon as you hear it, open your eyes and come to your page and start writing. Write without stopping for three minutes.

  6. Then, pause. Stretch, stand up, move around, and shake your body a little.

  7. Sit down again, and return to your page. Ask the question again, "What do I need to let go of?" You might also ask, "What do I need rest from?"

  8. Listen again to whatever comes to you, try not to judge and write for another three minutes. Keep your hand moving on the page. Let your writing be as specific as possible.

  9. After you write again, read through what you wrote. Notice your responses. Are you surprised by what came through? Pay attention to what you wrote, and see if there's any particular action you need to take, in response. If so, consider how you might do that.

  10. Give thanks for your writing time! Appreciate yourself for writing.

  11. This is a core question which will reveal things to you in the course of your day, once you've opened it up, as you just have, through writing. If you receive any insights, jot them down. Writing things down will help you remember.

Note: Get in the habit of carrying a small notebook with you through these 14 days. Sometimes you'll find a phrase emerging, as you're going about your day. Write it down!
